Please have the application with you during the screening interview if you did not fax it or submit it online. The interview may be done by a manager or it may be done by a current employee. We include our staff in the hiring process because they are the ones you will be working with the closest. We will evaluate the interview and call you within 4 days for a second interview if we are interested. Our hiring process takes a minimum of one week. If hired, you will go through a minimum of 3 days of training before you are “live.”

The Westside Café was started by 3 long time locals in September of 2002. Our first 9 years have been full of excitement and changes providing an ever improving work environment. We have a passion for achieving our goals and for helping others achieve theirs. We understand the difficulties and challenges of life and the importance of the correct balance between work and play. We promote a healthy lifestyle including ample time to enjoy the outdoors and the pleasures of life in the Vail Valley. All of us here share one goal…We're here to delight each guest with our food and service and to earn their regular patronage in order to keep them returning over and over again. Without our guests we have nothing. Our guests are treated like family and should always feel comfortable and happy while under our roof.We are Vail, Colorado's “local’s” spot and, as a result, stay open year round, giving the staff the chance to work as much as they prefer and to keep earning a living during the off seasons. We wish to provide a family environment not only for our guest but also for our employees. Many Vail valley residents are far away from their support network (family and lifetime friends) so we aim to provide a safe & fun working environment in which everybody is comfortable.

We maintain a drug free workplace. We have no tolerance for any illegal drugs at work, and, if found, will be a premise for immediate termination or non-hire. Smoke breaks will be allowed only at appropriate times and only if approved by the manager. Eating on the job also needs to be approved by a manager and will be allowed only at the appropriate times. Phone calls and checking messages at work will not be permitted unless it is in an emergency. When you are here, you are here to work and get a job done. There is always something to be completed. We emphasize menu knowledge and proper serving technique and hold regular test to insure the information is being learned. We expect full cooperation between kitchen staff, servers and managers and we expect you to be better with every shift.
To achieve our shared goal we attract, hire and train the best staff in the area. We provide continuing education, management support and on going development to our employees. We stress the importance of genuine hospitality and the “wow” guest experience in all of our discussions and training materials.
